The Head Kore 93 is an excellent all-mountain ski that is incredibly lightweight. While it may not have the dampness and rigidity of skis with metal in them, the Kore 93 holds it’s own in all of our testing categories. It is a ski that lends itself to throwing 360s and shifties off your favorite medium-sized park features, but can also lay down a carve with the best of them. While Head tout’s this ski’s bantamweight as a touring advantage for the backcountry, it performs just as well on piste, if not better. We tested the Kore 93 in a lengthy 180 cm, which ended up only feeling too long in tight trees or bumps. The generous tip creates great float in soft snow for this ski, while keeping a tight turn radius despite the length. Its price point is lower than the average ski in this category. That, combined with its on-snow performance earned it our Best Buy award. The Kore 93 is a very accessible ski for experienced to very good skiers. And because it is easy to handle in off-piste terrain, it’s the perfect launch pad into the world of freeride skiing. It’s a versatile ski that is both dynamic and easy-going. In the range of all mountain skis named the V6-Shape from Head, the V6 is a powerful ski with the main focus on on-piste performance.
The waist width of 78mm makes you able to charge the groomers fast and with quick edge to edge movements but if you would like to take a detour out in the deep snow between the trees the V6 will make your float and have fun out there as well.

Descente Ski Jackets by A better Ski
Waterproofing and Breathability:
The Descente Dart has a 20k/20k DT laminate that offers some pretty decent waterproofing and breathability. It’s not quite on par with Gore-Tex waterproofing, but is starting to get into the higher end of waterproof/breathable fabrics. This is a great semi-technical piece for serious skiers on a budget, or for those who will see a decent amount of wet weather, but maybe not as much rain as some locations. Breathability is also pretty decent, and I could see using this as a backcountry jacket or for hiking to hike-to terrain at the resort. It’s not quite as good as event or Gore-Pro, but definitely noticeably more breathable than entry level jackets.
Warmth: Being just a shell, the Descente Dart isn’t super warm, but it does have a micro fleece liner for a little bit of insulation. I actually found the Dart pretty warm for a shell. That being said, this isn’t going to be a good jacket for those skiers who are always cold, or for those super cold days on the snow. However, the Dart offers plenty of room underneath for layers, and with the right mid-layer you can turn this isn’t a pretty warm jacket. I prefer shells to insulated jackets because I can control how warm I want to be with layers. I could easily use this as my go to jacket all season long.
Fit: The Descente Dart has a normal fit that is slightly on the big side. I found the medium to be pretty loose in the torso, and would probably like the small a little better for my body type. I do prefer a tailored fit though, so if you like the loose freestyle fit, the medium would work pretty well. The Dart does have a Motion 3D Fit that adds a bit or articulation throughout the jacket. The Dart also has a Perfom X stretch fabric, so even on the tighter fit of the small, the jacket doesn’t feel restricting at all.
Features: The Descente Dart has some higher end fabric tech that includes a 20k waterproof and breathable DT laminate, and a Perfom X stretch shell. If that’s not enough, the Dart is loaded with ski specific features. This includes a removable contoured hood, snap-away powder skirt, waterproof zippers, and mesh lined front facing pit zips. There are also plenty of pockets for gear.
Bottom Line: The Descente Dart is a really great shell for the price. It has some pretty solid fabric tech, and all of the features you need for a day at the resort. I could easily recommend this jacket for those skiers that want a technical shell, but can’t afford to spend $500 for one of the higher end shells.

When you purchase new equipment for your child from us, we will take the same care and time fitting your kids as we do with all of our adult customers. Careful consideration is given to all of the key factors that go into choosing the right products and sizes for your young ones.
Weight, height, experience level, aggression level, speed and ability are all discussed with you and your child prior to fitting. We then choose equipment that will allow your child to improve with confidence while allowing for the slight growth spurt that occurs with all kids over the course of the season.
The Problem
Kids grow up too fast! Finding the correct size of winter gear at an affordable price for your little ones is always a challenge, especially when you have more than one or two children. The temptation for us as parents is to purchase everything too big so that we can allow our kids to grow into their ski or snowboard equipment, thereby getting a couple of seasons out of it. The resulting problem is that the child has great difficulty turning and goes careening out of control, with the panic stricken parent trying to catch them before they crash!
Our Solution
Ideally, your child should only get one season out of their equipment while they are still growing. Selling the stuff piecemeal or taking it to the local Swap Sale is cumbersome and time consuming. Why not just bring it back in to us at Abominable? We’ll buy it back from you in one easy process.
Best selection is available between November and December, so it’s wise to shop early to avoid the disappointment of not being able to find the proper size. Manufacturers do not typically produce extra kids’ equipment for late winter and spring sales. That being said, we offer the most extensive selection of children’s gear around, so it’s seldom that we run out of stock before the end of December.
